The Wellington Farm Shop is a short jaunt from Basingstoke on the A33 on the road to Reading. I think I've blogged about it before, but it simply wonderful. It is the old Duke of Wellington's country home and all of the meat and produce that they sell is grown on the farm.
In addition to meat & produce the Wellington Farm Shop sells a variety of breads, pantry goods, chutneys and a HUGE selection of cheeses, eggs and milk.
One of my favorite things to do is have lunch our on the patio and then take a turn around the grounds. They have the BEST coronation chicken on a baguette. NOT the most Weight Watcher's friendly but definitely a delicious British staple. It's sort of like Ina's curry chicken salad, but it was created long ago for Queen Elizabeth's coronation. If you are in England definitely look for it on a menu and give it a whirl!
They have horses, chickens, and dogs. Sometimes even a little bird will stop by the tables to say hello. . (And by 'say hello' I mean politely wait for treats from the diners!)
Sometimes I even get talked into a cake and tea after our lunch. My favorite is the coffee & walnut. Soooo tasty and the icing is almost pure butter.
I blame man below.
Finally, the Wellington Farm Shop has a gorgeous selection of planters, bowls and other home wares. I always do a turn around the shop and end up picking up a few pretty options! (READ: Snatch them up & hide them in my purse when PB is not looking.)
Attached to The Wellington Farm Shop is Kit Stone. They remodel and design kitchens as well as sell pretty furniture and paint. If we remodel our kitchen anytime soon (which we are currently discussing) we will DEFINITELY be going there for our re-fit.
Do you have a cute farm shop near you?
(Thought: Maybe I should take up tasting & reviewing allllllll of the cheese & cakes in the photos above? Yes? YES?!?! Yes. I mean. Look. at. that. CHEESE! Go back up. Look.)
