I'm back from my whirlwind trip to NYC. It was SUPER fun. I ended up not doing MOMA because it was packed beyond belief. The sweet girl at the desk warned that it was really busy and suggested I might want to come back a little later. That is when I scrapped those plans and decided to head straight for Saks.
On my way there I noticed this guy on the sidewalk holding a big sign thingy and I was wondering what his deal was. I got close and looked to my right and LITERALLY right beside me was this tall, beautiful blonde known as Stephanie March (aka Alexandra Cabot... former DA on L&O SVU.) I DIED. They were literally filming as I walked by so I couldn't stop and get a picture. I crossed the street but a stupid van was in my way. I wanted to yell "ALEX! I LOVE YOU! COME BACK TO ELLIOT AND OLIVIA!" Clearly I love me some Law & Order SVU.

Then we went to Magnolia Bakery and I got some cupcakes and we tried their banana pudding. One word: BAH-NAN-NAS! So delish. I could've died a happy person right then. I, of course, bought a few extra cupcakes to bring home. They've been calling from the fridge since 3AM but I'm ignoring.
It was then time for Kleinfeld's! They WERE filming Say Yes to the Dress but I didn't get to see the brides they were filming. I did recognize a few ladies from the show. I was underwhelmed by my experience. I went to try on ONE dress and I was very upfront about that I already bought a dress and just wanted to try that one specific dress. So, she brought it but did NOT bring me like a strapless bra or anything to try on with it. So I tried it one with a black bra and blue undies. Um. because that helps me get SUCH a good idea of how it really looks. The top was too big and she didn't even clip it back for me nor did she hold up a mirror for me to see the back. It was obvious that she just wanted to get me in the dress and out the door. I was pretty disappointed in the level of customer service from the bridal consultant. Suffice to say I did NOT like the dress and am sticking with the original. (That dress was also 3x as much as the one I've already bought. Good thing I didn't LOVE it!)
Then RPT and I hit Los Feliz for dinner since Barrio Chino was packed with an hour wait. It was AH-MAY-ZING! Literally was the best Mexican dinner I've ever had. We ordered 3 sets of tacos to share. We got the Pez Dorado (Crispy sea bass, valentia aioli, avocado, cucumber-ginger relish) , Camaron Enchilado (Sauteed shrimp, peanuts-red chili paste, pickled carrots, sesame seeds), and the Chicharron de Pollo (avocado, panela cheese, mixed greens
Adobo chicken crackling, guacamole, grilled pineapple, red chili aioli, cotija cheese) tacos. We also were given a brown paper bag full of homemade tortilla chips and this DELICIOUS smoky, creamy salsa. To drink we both ordered a jalapeno margarita.
I literally have no words for the deliciousness of it all. The chicharron de pollo were my favorite. They were super spicy (not heat, but just covered in spices) and they had this little orange slice that just cut the spice and in my opinion, made the dish!) RPT's favorite was the Pez Dorado. The sea bass was perfectly seasoned and I think the avocado really added something to it. Both of us would have passed on the Shrimp tacos. They almost had an asian flair and I think we both would have liked a little more heat with maybe a mango salsa with them instead. If you are in NYC- RUNNNNNN and go ASAP! I already told RPT that we MUST go back when I'm in town again.
Then RPT deposited me at the bus station around 10PM and I was homebound. The bus driver got us into Boston at 1:30AM. Only 3.5 hours??? Methinks he was going 90. I'm trying not to dwell on it!
How was y'alls Thursday?!
