We're still in the planning process and are waiting on the law school to set the graduation date for next year before we set an exact date, but I thought I'd show you the three venues that are in the running!
Since most of my family lives down South and I went to UNC Chapel Hill for my undergrad, we've decided to get married in Chapel Hill! As an undergrad I worked part-time at our first choice, The Carolina Inn.

Pros about this venue:
- It is ABSOLUTELY beautiful! It's a historic property that has TONS of southern charm and character.
- The food is delicious.
- The space we would use (The Old Well Room) is so gorgeous that it wouldn't need much decoration.
Cons about this venue:
- There is a minimum $ amount you have to spend on the reception which makes it difficult to have a smallish wedding without spending a ridiculous amount per guest.
- They don't assign anyone to help coordinate on the wedding day (you have a "planner" but she just works with the staff, you have to hire a wedding coordinator to run things on your end.)
- It is the priciest!
Our second choice is a relatively new venue in Chapel Hill that actually was not in existence when I was there. It's The Franklin Hotel. It is located a few blocks from campus on Franklin Street, which is sort of the "main" street of Chapel Hill.

Pros:
- MUCH less expensive than the Carolina Inn! They include the cake and a wedding coordinator to run your rehearsal dinner and wedding day in the package prices.
- Sits right on Franklin Street which makes it easier for people to go out afterwards!
- Offers shrimp and grits as a station option for the reception which is what I've been wanting
- The reception venue opens out to a balcony overlooking Franklin Street which I think would be a nice touch
Cons:
- Not as charming as The Carolina Inn
- New and am unsure about the service, food and quality
- Is farther from campus (where I want to do some pictures)
My third choice is The Fearrington House. It's a little drive from Chapel Hill but it's beautiful and is a more country setting. I've only just received an email about pricing and such, so I have no Pros or Cons yet. One Pro is that they have a STUNNING barn but a con is that you have to have a minimum of 150 guests to book it! (We're only going to have 60-80ish)
Which one do y'all like?
