Pink Julep's Favorites - Punk Edition

Hey gals - I got bored last night and gave my blog a much overdue facelift! Hope you like it since y'all are the ones who look at it (hopefully :-)!

Mister Julep is sitting on the couch watching some made for tv documentary on The Ramones (who we both love) and it just reminded me of something I LOVE - I love biopics and I especially love PUNK biopics - never a dull moment in the life of a punk rocker!!! I thought I'd share with you some of my faves:

Anton Corbijn is famous for his rock and roll photography so when he announced he would make a film about Ian Curtis, lead singer of Joy Division, it definitely had promises to be a beautifully shot film, if nothing else!!! I was working at Film Forum in New York City when it premiered there - it's great! I actually met the star, Sam Riley who's adorable and from England - this movie kind of made him a star... only about a year ago though - he's one to look out for! He'll definitely be around!

Sid & Nancy was the first punk film I ever saw and I was hooked! Not only is Gary Oldman AMAZING in the role of Sid Vicious, but it's like a train wreck - you simply cannot look away but it's sooooo wrong! Sex, drugs & rock and roll baby!!!

24 Hour Party People stars Steve Coogan (who is GREAT!) among others and is about Tony Wilson, a television reporter in Manchester who headed Factory Records and had a part in starting the "Madchester" music scene, managing groups like The Happy Mondays, Joy Division, New Order, and The Sex Pistols. GREAT MOVIE!

Marie Antoinnette was the most obvious punk in history and thank God Sophia Copola noticed and took action - this film is beautiful and it's punk soundtrack is fitting! One of my favorites in my collection!!!

Happy Sunday!
xoxo,
PINK JULEP!
