Mr. Julep took me out for a fun treat on Sunday! I have long been a fan of Disney animated features and we went to see The Princess and the Frog! Honestly, yes I am an adult, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't LOVE IT!!! It was beautiful, funny, had a great story and the music was fantastic!!! Even Oprah supplied the voice for one of the characters! Songs in the film are performed by greats such as Dr. John, Jennifer Lewis and even Ne-Yo. I highly recommend this for you and your families! It's too cute and has a good message as well!
However, there was a bit of a damper on our evening. I just want to say that I'm a huge fan for giving it a shot at taking a young child to see a children's movie, HOWEVER... when you bring infants and toddlers to a film in a public theatre, you should be well prepared to take your child outside if it starts screaming violently so as to not interrupt the viewing pleasure of others. I paid the equivalent of US $13 (give or take a few cents) per ticket and did not wish to hear approximately 5 children screaming throughout the entire film!!! It got even worse when the couple in front of us tried to cover their toddler's mouth and then started shaking him hard telling him to "shut up!" Of course the poor kid only cried worse and then kicked his mother in the face! I would have kicked her too if she tried to shove her big hand down my throat and then shook me like a dirty ole rug! Anyway, I had to get that off my chest. I don't know what makes people think that they have the right to provide surround sound bawling as part of the soundtrack for a film.
Don't even get me started on people who talk loudly, take photos, use their well-lit cell phones and throw things. Or worse, people who bring their 4 year olds to horror films and then yell at them for being terrified.
With that being said, I enjoyed watching some of the more age appropriate kids in the theatre. One boy in front of me started bouncing during a song and at one point, when he couldn't sit still anymore, got up and started full on rockin out and dancing! TOO CUTE!!! He definitely had a feel for that music!
xoxo,
Pink Julep!
