The Private Lives of Pippa Lee centers around Robin Wright Penn (Pippa) who's married to a man significantly older than her (Alan Arkin). She seems to be the picture-perfect housewife, meek and gentle and completely in control of her constant life. But as the film unravels, Pippa tells you about how she came to be where she is and what her life was like growing up with a crazy mother (Maria Bello), how she made it on her own, and how she developed a relationship and later a marriage with a man who's twice her age.
I loved this film! Mr. Julep found it boring and I would say it's a chick-flick if anything, similar to Devine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood in it's story/structure. It's not an earth-changing film by any means, but the performances are great and it's really enjoyable. Also starring Keanu Reeves and Wynona Rider, I would recommend this film for any of you gals who wanna curl up with a pint of Ben & Jerry's or get together with the girls for a pitcher of cosmo's and just watch a great story!
