So, I was having the most amazing day! No really, I was... I got a lot done at work today! I got a phone call from the US saying my wedding dress came in!!! Eeeekkkk!!! Then, when I checked the mail, I got a lovely birthday card from my grandparents with a little $$$ in it! Whoop whoop!
It gets better...
When I came home, the first thing I did was look at expedia.com to see when I could fly up to the US to get my dress, arrange for alterations, and do some much much needed shopping! Not only did I have my pick of flights, but expedia is currently waving all fees in honor of that timeless tradition of SPRING BREAK! Not only that, but hotels were having sales and expedia was giving a percentage off for booking both flight and hotel!!! So, ladies, if you're planning a trip at all, I highly suggest you bring out the visa and go to expedia sooner than later!!!
I was originally planning on staying at the Hyatt Regency in the Saks Fifth Avenue Center (for obvious reasons) but then I came across something amazing!!! There's a beautiful old hotel there called The Cincinnatian. It's pretty fancy!!! In 1987 the hotel underwent a $25 million renovation, but they kept the original old-world lavish charm. I think this place is just gorgeous - I tried to do our wedding, rehearsal or guest rooms there, but none of it worked out and all of it was way over our budget!
You can imagine my surprise when I found that this very hotel was on sale and CHEAPER than most others in the neighborhood!!! Not only that, but it's only a block away from the Saks Fifth Avenue Center so I can still mosey over there for a quick look!!! So it's all set... on April 17th, I'll be going to Cincinnati on my own for a girlie weekend - maybe I'll see some family or a bridesmaid will come up to visit, but honestly, I don't mind - I'm just happy to go to America and have some good ole All American shopping pedicuring retail therapy FUN!!!!!!!!!

And I'll be staying here:

And sleeping after a long day of shopping here:

These are pictures of Bridal and Formal in the Reading Ohio Wedding District where I purchased my dress! I'm so excited to go back there now that I'm further into the planning and know what I need and what I'm looking for. This place has everything a bride could want and all on one street!!!

This is the lobby/waiting area - so cute!!!

After all of this excitement, we went to get some milk in a shopping center nearby and I found some great stuff to send to my stationary swap partner, Europafox! Let me tell ya, ladies - it's been hard! I have slim pickins on an island, but I will not stop till I've scoured the island and exhausted every option to make her a FABULOUS package to ship right on over to Jolly Ole England!

So, this day all in all was a really good day!
UNTIL...
On our way home from shopping, I was pulled over by a Cayman Islands police officer for speeding. I didn't even know what the limit was - it's not like the signs here are good and visable. Believe me, they're not - I've hardly seen any ever! Not to mention that all the cars' spedometers are in Kilometers, but the speed limits are in miles - I'm not THAT good at math! Ridiculous!!! The ticket - $100 CI which is $125 USD! OUCH!!! No warning, nothing! I only hope it won't effect my imigration status on the island... I still need at least one more work permit before the wedding or I'm off to live with mama for 2 months! hahahaha
I was pretty fuming and then I found this which cheered me RIGHT UP!!! Thanks so much to Jane in the Waiting Line for this award - you're kindness and cheery upityness just saved me from eating an entire tub of ice cream in depression over my speeding ticket! Y'all bloggals are just the best I tell ya!

this award asks me to name 7 things i love and to pass it along to 7 bloggers i love! so with out further ado:
1. Cheap generic chocolate grocery store brand ice cream!!! - don't know what it is about this, but I LOVE it! Maybe cause that's what my granny gave us when we were small - there was a recession in the 80's too, ya know!
2. Lean Cuisine Pizza - just had one for dinner and have just discovered these - my new favorite food!!!
3. Chick Flicks and Chick Lit - I just can't live without either and need healthy doses of each regularly!!!
4. Blogging - Seriously, I have never enjoyed something so much - I look forward to reading everyone's blogs every day and I've learned so much from y'all! It's fab, especially since I'm so far from home and all my friends!
5. Disney World - It's the Happiest Place on Earth! I'm going there for my honeymoon... nuff said!
6. Travelling in Style - whether I am staying at a fancy resort or a cheap & cheerful quaint B&B, I really appreciate soaking up everything I can when I'm travelling and I like to keep it interesting in terms of hotel! I'm not snobby at all - I've definitely stayed many times at the "we'll leave the light on for ya" trucker hotels before! But I always sleep so well in hotels and I particularly love one with a story behind it! We're staying in a suite where the Beatles stayed during their tour in the 60's on our wedding night in a hotel where The Rainman was filmed - LOVE IT!!!
7. Concerts! I haven't been to many compared to most people, but I'm currently trying to get tickets to see the one and only MJ, the King of Pop in London!!! EEEKKKK!!!! I hope we get them!!! I haven't seen a concert in at least a year or more, but I love them!!!
Okay, that's it... I tag:
xoxo,
Pink Julep!
