The most fashionable event of the year happened two nights ago - the Met's Costume Institute Benefit Gala. I absolutely LOVE this event and every year take joy in looking at all the photos! This is not your typical red carpet - this is usually where the big dogs come to play, unveiling the very best of Haute Couture creations - garments that not only inspire and push fashion to the limits (hence the "Costume" part of the title), but display hours upon hours of beautiful well-planned craftsmanship!
When I first started looking at photos of wedding gowns, I knew I wanted a gown in style (if not in price range) that would be similar to something one could wear to the Costume Gala at the Met... it's all in the details, girls and the dress I found was no less than what I hoped for at a fraction of the cost of many of these gowns!
In honor of the most fashionable red carpet event of the year, I've included some of my favorite dresses, both from this year and years past at the Met Gala (this might give you hints into what my dress may or may not look like):
Elizabeth Hurley is simply bridal in this beautiful frock! I just adore the large roses on the skirt!
This shape is beautiful on Sandra Bullock - check out the detailed rouching!
This color is beautiful and that train is fierce!
One of my absolute favorites of all time - Kate Beckinsale looks like a swan, ballerina, and a blushing bride all had a baby - just gooooooorgeous!!! If I was a millionaire, I'd buy this dress right now off her body and wear it for my wedding!
Not a fan of Eva Longoria most of the time, but this dress is to die for!
Emma Roberts attended the gala this year and I must say - nothing got by her!!! Though there aren't many places where I'd personally wear this dress, she is right on target for this event, on the cutting edge of fashion in this red structured mini! She embraced the most important part of this event - to be fun, fabulous and edgy! Not too shabby for little Nancy Drew!
And her Auntie in Armani - if I were the first lady, this would be right up my alley for an event or innauguration - classy!
