{thoughts on a thursday & what are you reading?}

. . . yesterday was one of those beautiful august days spent traipsing about town for meetings & appointments, visiting many, many design shops for research for an exciting new project, a café date and late lunch date, and best of all, a stop at the art gallery on the way home -- gilded frames and arches of colour, eighteenth century chandeliers and heels on herringbone floors . . .

. . . and now, a perfect time to get caught up before friday's day trip -- a million emails and mile-long to-do lists, and perhaps, if there is time, a few moments to catch up on a little reading, and despite the fact that only six months ago, there were over 156 million blogs in the world, have managed only to happen upon two new {lovely!} ones last week, and so, whether books or blogs, or anything in between, would love to know, what are you reading?

{happy monday + a brand new week}

. . . hello! hope you had a wonderful weekend & it's lovely to see you again . . . dashing out the door {late!} for appointments and the flower markets, but first, a quick hello . . . and for the first time in a while, the happy chaos of the past exciting & busy weeks is subsiding {just a little}, and everything feels as if it were slowly becoming a little more organised and falling beautifully into place, and just in time, as the last part of summer always seems to be the busiest; the nights already feel a little cooler, and the mornings have a certain freshness, and there is a {nearly imperceptible} and altogether irresistible something new and adventurous in the air . . .

. . . while the no. 21 collection may have been filled with fluttery fabrics and delicate lace for the work day, and elie saab, with soft draping and daytime sequins, the antonio berardi pre-fall collection is all stunning structured jackets and long, angular capes, belted coats with voluminous sleeves and carefully fitted dresses, ultra thin leather belts and powdery suede boots, juxtaposed against luxurious satin secretary blouses tied in bows . . .

{ribbons, ruffles and . . .}

. . . yesterday was one of those days were it seemed as if inspiration was always just nearly out of grasp, and while coffee & a moment of repose, a late lunch date and a little fresh air seemed to help, when all else fails, {with the exception of a flight to paris}, there are always ribbons, ruffles, and tulle, tulle, tulle . . .
