"At the ballet, you really feel like you're in the presence of something outside the rest of your life. Higher than the rest of your life. "
~ Robert Caro

. . . there are some things that are so heartbreakingly beautiful, they cause one's breath to catch -- the sad and longing strains of an opera, the moon on a midsummer's night, the rose gardens after a rainfall, and of course, the ballet . . .

{p.s.} also new today: lovely little glimpses

. . . always and forever photographing little snippets of life -- beautiful vignettes and new french desserts, glimmering chandeliers on warm summer nights, captured in memory and forever in time, and so, completely fell in love with the concept behind creative director, jane cameron's, blog, which is filled with these little magazine moments . . .

. . . with summer days flying by, irresistibly drawn, more and more, to the lure of the ocean, and to slowing things down, just a little . . . and this light and lovely oceanside cottage, with its billowy curtains and seashell chandelier, bright white & seaglass palette and spectacularly breathtaking view, was made for nothing more than to lounge about in the ocean breezes . . .

. . . must confess, these days, would most likely find me anywhere {most likely in the office} other than the kitchen, unless it is to pour the champagne, or to linger about the hors d'œuvre, and of course, when there are cream-filled cakes and heart-shaped shortbread cookies sprinkled with confectioners' sugar . . .

"Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time."
~ Thomas Merton

. . . a very favourite thing to do while travelling {or anytime, really}, is to while away endless beautiful hours wandering the echoing halls of museums and art galleries, breathing in the history and marveling at each brush stoke -- monet, renoir, pissaro and degas -- so much so, that once even braved the crowds of tourists at the louvre in paris one winter's day, even catching a mesmerising glimpse of mona lisa's mysterious smile . . . there is just something so magical about being enveloped in such stunning creativity . . .

{p.s.} a favourite is the musée d'orsay
