Swinging In Heaven

 My dear sweet Bumpkin on a Swing,

I will miss you so. You touched my life, if only for a short time, in your beautiful Bumpkin way. Your life was taken too quickly, but for some reason God needs you up there with him. Maybe to watch over us? I know he had a swing ready for you, there's no doubt in my mind.

No one will ever be able to create a post the way you did, or bring such a smile and happiness with their comments. Your personality was infectious, and the love you brought to the blog world will never be forgotten.

~~~~~~~
You can read the full story over at Trish's. My darling Trish spent the last few days with Lisa, holding her hand, laughing, crying, giving all she had in the last few hours of Lisa's life.
My heart is broken today, as it has been over the past three weeks since I found out about Lisa's diagnosis. I'm overwhelmed with emotions. As I said yesterday, I will return soon, but right now it's just too much.
~~~~~~~~~

Lisa, I love you. I will miss you incredibly. Save a place on that swing for me.

All my love,

Julie

Happy Tuesday, loves!

When Brad and I were in Nashville a couple weeks ago we had the most incredible dinner at this local establishment. The best part of the meal (aside from the pineapple mojito!) was a gourmet gruyere, hickory bacon macaroni and cheese- of which both of us desperately needed a second helping. Since then, I can't get this quote out of my head.

Isn't it just perfectly fitting?!

Happy Tuesday, friends!

I hope this finds you well and happy! As you know, I took a little break and spent yesterday floating on the lake with some lovely ladies- gossiping, laughing, and sunning. It was completely relaxing and the perfect remedy for a Monday.

As I was looking back through my posts from last week I realized there was a common thread among them all that I'm sure has left some of you wondering what in the world is going on in my life (and if we're friends on facebook, then you've been getting a double dose!). Of course, I don't want to bore you with all the little details, but in the past few weeks my world has been changed in the most significant way possible.

Most of you know that I had been happily single for the past two years- living a life full of anything and everything I wanted, never worrying about pleasing someone else or even looking for someone else, for that matter. People would tell me (what felt like every single day), "when you least expect it that's when you'll meet someone." I never believed that statement until recently, and then it happened. Call it what you want- butterflies, being swept off your feet, smitten, having your breath taken away, head over heels- I'm all of the above!

I wasn't sure when I wanted to share the news here, but today felt like as good a time as any. If anyone has ever felt as if they were floating on a cloud without their feet leaving the ground, it's me. The butterflies are uncontrollable and feel absolutely magical. I've never had someone that makes life seem so much more full of meaning and purpose. I've never had someone who's so uncomplicated, easy, effortless, and a breath of fresh air. I've said many times recently, "When it's right, it won't be hard." I never imagined that being with someone else could be so wonderful and bring me back to life the way he has.

I found this quote from Shannon that I think is just perfect. . .

"I do my thing, and you do your thing. I am not in this world to live up to your expectations, and you are not in this world to live up to mine. You are you and I am I, and if by chance we find each other, it's beautiful."

Friday's Fancies: Date Night

Happy Friday, sweet friends!

I hope this finds you happy, well, and ready to close out another week with some fabulous summer weekend plans! I'm linking up again today with my darling friend {av} for Friday's Fancies. If you aren't familiar with her blog, click on over and get to know her- I'm certain you will adore her as much as I do! Her Friday's Fancies link up is dedicated to forgoing all fashion budgets and letting your imagination take over. Basically, dream big!

For today's post I thought it quite fitting to do a 'date night' theme. I love the fact that a date night can be anything you and your partner can dream up- dinner and dancing, a movie, a late night stroll, drinks at your favorite local spot or, my personal favorite, a night in at home. With my butterflies all a flutter, I just can't help but be in a lovey-dovey mode! Surely you don't mind?

My take on the Friday date night? A breezy dress, sandals adorned with a flirty bow, easy clutch, bold jewels and a spritz of Lilly Pulitzer Wink.

Wishing each of you a fantastic Friday night and summer weekend!

. . . must confess, still a little caught up in the romance of it all, the stolen glances and secret smiles, the horse-drawn carriages and chantilly lace, the balcony kisses and moments so breathtakingly lovely, can barely stand it . . .

. . . and of course, with all of this week's talk of tiaras . . . kate's 'something borrowed' was the cartier halo tiara, made in 1936 and purchased by king george VI for his wife queen elizabeth {the queen mother} three weeks before he succeeded his brother as king; the tiara was presented to princess elizabeth, now the queen, by her mother on the occasion of her 18th birthday; the new princess catherine matched the tiara with earrings by robinson pelham, a gift from her parents inspired by the new middleton coat of arms

{p.s.} for the royal wedding reception, catherine changed into a second alexander mcqueen gown, and her sister pippa changed out of the stunning mcqueen into temperley london

Happy Pink and Green Thursday, sweet friends!

Thank you to everyone who linked up last week when Trishy and I did our blog swap! As always, you're welcome to link up over at Trish's, she loves to see new faces!

Today I'm celebrating all things lovey dovey and sharing my Valentine's decorations and a beautiful (and fun) bridal photo shoot by a North Carolina photographer that I just discovered and am loving (thanks to Lindsey!) With all the Valentine talk floating around on my favorite websites and blogs, I thought it was time to jump on the bandwagon! Enjoy!

You know how I love a good wedding! I feel like I'm always on the hunt for matrimonial-inspired links and photos. Kristin Vining is a Charlotte, North Carolina-based photographer who I have just fallen in love with! Her bridal shoots are gorgeous and her engagement photos are personalized and fun. I was immediately smitten with this vintage-inspired bridal shoot done at a local amusement park. Doesn't it scream pink and green goodness?!
