Lovely Twist

I simply can't get enough of this gorgeous, twisty wedding hairstyle! Is that striped grosgrain ribbon not the most darling touch?! The way it coordinates with the bouquet wrapping is simply beautiful. When I came across this photo shoot I was mesmerized by the way the stylist seems to have woven the ribbon through the bride's hair. What a modern, fun take on the traditional wedding up-do- I must figure out how to recreate this style (a little more simplified) for everyday wear!

Back to School

I was always the kid who loved the first day of school. The new backpack, the pencil box full of fresh erasers and markers, the new Lisa Frank folders in my three-ring binder, and of course, my first day of school outfit. There was never a year (even into college) that I didn't get that back-to-school giddiness that came with searching for the perfect outfit. It seems ironic to me that I ended up pursuing a career that put me right back in that atmosphere. As most of you know, I work as a school counselor, and (believe it or not) I still can't resist the excitement that comes with putting together my first day of school ensemble. While I don't put quite as much effort into it as I did in middle school, the feeling still brings me pure happiness and joy. Here's how I would style a 'first day of school' look (and it's not too much of a miss from what I actually wore last week!)

Live Sparkly

"Live sparkly."

That's the inspiring motto of the newly launched Society Social- a line of bold pieces (from bar carts to hostess gowns) with the intention of encouraging you to make your mark when it comes to entertaining. There are few things I find more fascinating than brands that manage to evoke a certain lifestyle- a lifestyle of which their adoring fans long to become a part. Society Social is certainly no different.

(Roxy admiring one of her finished bar carts!)

The beauty and brains behind the whole operation is Roxy Te from My Cup of Te. I've watched over the past couple months the hard work that she's put into making her dream a (very colorful) reality. Honestly, I don't think that it could have turned out more perfectly.

Today I want to raise a glass to this wonderful company and the darling lady behind it all!

Cheers to you, Society Social!

One of my favorite items is the stunning hostess gown. Every lady needs one of these little gems. . .

My affinity for colorful living is no secret, and there's no brand that does 'colorfully' better than Kate Spade. What simply started as fabulous, sensible bags has turned into a lifestyle full of sparkle, whimsy, and an appreciation for the little things. Twitter was all aflutter yesterday when this beautiful article was posted on The Coveteur spotlighting Kate Spade President and Creative Director, Deborah Lloyd's stunning Brooklyn apartment. From the peacock, to the pillows, to the punches of pink and red, after one look inside Ms. Lloyd's home it's no trouble to tell that she lives life quite colorfully. . .
