{summer inspiration: always the beach}

. . . there is a surf spray for your hair that promises "that salty, sexy, sun-dried, wind-styled feel" that comes from being in the ocean -- and while it does leave one's hair tousled and sexily wind-blown as promised, nothing can compare to the feeling of toes in the sand and saltwater kisses and that perfect feeling of all the time in the world . . .

. . . must confess, these days, would most likely find me anywhere {most likely in the office} other than the kitchen, unless it is to pour the champagne, or to linger about the hors d'œuvre, and of course, when there are cream-filled cakes and heart-shaped shortbread cookies sprinkled with confectioners' sugar . . .

{colour inspiration: warm summer whites}

. . . a million and one wonderful things still left to do this week, business trips and summer weekends away, projects & plans and letters & emails . . . and so, a few moments to collect thoughts and get lost for a short while in late-spring things -- glossy pages to flip through, a box of chocolate truffles tied with ribbon, the sound of crashing waves and the beautiful silence of warm summer whites . . .

{countdown to the royal wedding: high tea}

. . . and with the royal wedding merely days away, there is talk of duchesse satin gowns and horse-drawn carriages and happily ever after, and if you're hosting a tea party to mark the momentous occasion, be certain to serve vanilla bean buttercream cake, scones and profiteroles, and vanilla & coconut macarons, of course . . .
