Plans for the Weekend!!!

Have been looking forward to this weekend since last weekend ended. And why shouldn't I? I am sooooo crazy in love and happily married, have developed a new love for cooking and work hard like a dog, so it's no wonder I'm living for the weekend every week!!! There's so many things I'd like to do this weekend that I'm not sure I'll cram it all in!

Tonight I'm making beef stroganoff with Key Lime Pie for desert and we'll watch some movies we rented, after Ghost Whisperer and Medium of course!

Can't wait to see this one:

Will have to go to bed early so I can get up for the gym, shower and be very well rested for my appointment with a make-up artist from the Dior Runway Team!!! AHHHHHHHHHH So excited!!!! Maybe he's responsible for these looks:

Or these:
Either way, I'm sure it is going to be super fun and I'm bound to learn a few tricks and pick up a few new treats for my face!!!

Also this weekend, I'd like to finally (it's been going on way too long) finish reading this:

So I can start reading this:

And tomorrow night, after dining on most like Lemon Mustard Chicken (though I haven't completely decided on tomorrow's dinner - we might go out) we're going to see this (hubby is well excited and I suppose I'd have to worry about his orientation if he weren't):

I'm a huge fan of Diablo Cody so I'm looking forward to it too!!! And it's a vampire movie so it's perfect for the HALLOWEEN season!!!

On Sunday I plan to do some hefty cleaning.

Attempt to make home-made white bread from scratch (having never tried this before, I don't have super high expectations for this first attempt).

I'll probably also make some other new recipes, in particular muffins for the week ahead for breakfasts and I'm thinking of doing a Quiche for brunch on Sunday! In case y'all haven't noticed, I've recently discovered that cooking is a brilliant form of stress relief and since making all my own food, I've been feeling a lot better!!! So I'm slaving away happily in the kitchen for the bulk of my free time... and Mr. Julep approves... he's eating well these days and happy for it!
What are your plans for the weekend?
HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

Pink Julep!

Friday Night TV

The mister and I are usually pretty wiped out by the time Friday rolls around. We've also usually played hooky too many days at the gym during the week and have to work out on Fridays so it's perfect for us that we LOVE Ghost Whisperer and our newly discovered Friday night favorite is Medium!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!

Eastwick

Ah, if only I could be so lucky to be a witch with magical powers, having beautiful clothes and living in a folky, sleepy New England town!

Mister Julep and I caught the Series Premiere of Eastwick last night and we're impressed! I loved it actually and I can't wait to see what happens next week! It's about time they put something good on network television that's not a reality show!

Exciting Sunday Night TV!!!

Tonight the Tony Awards are on!!! If you like to see shows on Broadway or National Tours, this is a great way to catch a glimpse of each nominated show to see if you'd like to see that one next!

A friend of mine, Tom Kitt (he's actually a friend's brother and really just an aquaintance), is nominated for 2 Tony's this year!!! He wrote the music for NEXT TO NORMAL which is nominated for 11 awards all together!!! I'm so excited for him! He's nominated alongside the likes of Dolly Parton and Elton John! Also, Roundabout Theatre Company where I worked as an intern for 2 terms is also nominated for several awards! Best of luck to all the nominees!!!

Also, the premiere of KENDRA is on tonight! This is sure to be just another mindless reality show, but I loved The Girls Next Door and am looking forward to this one!

For those of you who are interested in True Blood, they are showing the last 3 episodes of Season 1 in anticipation of the premier of Season 2 next week!!! This is my favorite show, so if you haven't seen it yet, get caught up and start watching! It's so good - sexy, scary, suspenseful, funny - it's everything good all rolled into one!!!

Dallas

M & I recently got the first four seasons of Dallas on DVD and we're watching the first episode right now - I'm already hooked!!! The good thing is that this show had 11 seasons!!! So there's gonna be plenty to watch!!! I haven't seen most of them since I was too young when the show was on.

Hope y'all are having a great Sunday evening!!!

Thank You For Being A Friend, Traveled Down the Road and Back Again...

The beloved Bea Arthur, also known Vera Charles from Mame and most famously as Dorothy Zbornak on The Golden Girls, has passed away at the age of 86. She was suffering from cancer.

Bea Arthur was a legend - an amazing actress and she will be sorely missed!

Pink Julep Watching Telly: American Greed

I love watching the show American Greed! It's kind of a documentary-type tv show about financial/business frauds and crimes. There was even an episode about Raphaelo Follieri, former boyfriend of Anne Hathaway and it was great! Some of the episodes are absolutely insane! Like the one about the man who ran a funeral home and stole organs from corpses and sold them on the black market, making a whole lotta money for himself! If you haven't seen this show, give it a shot! It's actually quite interesting and not as dorky as it sounds! It comes on CNBC several times throughout the week. Tonight there's been a bit of a marathon of several episodes.

Happy watching!

Pink Julep Loves: Kell on Earth

I have long enjoyed the saucy antics of Kelly Cutrone on The Hills and The City, but I have to say, her new show is great and shows her in a more realistic well-rounded light. I am pretty sure I love her! She's awesome!!! This is a woman who does it all - she is a single mother and runs her own business in the oh so glamorous fashion world and she somehow makes it all work out... women like this are my heroes! Anyway, the show is really educational about fashion PR in my humble opinion and great for a few laughs. If you love fashion, you'll enjoy seeing behind the scenes footage of fashion week shows including so far, Agent Provacateur, Chado Ralph Rucci and others. I'm a huge fan and my hubs loves the drama too! All in all its good ole 'fashioned' family fun!!!

Also, if you're a fan of Kelly Cutrone, run out and grab her new book titled If You Have to Cry, Go Outside: And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You. I snagged a copy and can't wait to read it!!!

Fun Weekend!

Hi gals! Sorry I've been MIA recently... we've been quite busy this week! My manager at work had a birthday on Wednesday so we took him out Tuesday night for a howl of an evening (we had Wednesday off work!!!) and he really seemed to enjoy himself! Then a surprise birthday party on Friday night which was very fun! And yesterday we attended a friend's Country Ho Down BBQ for her mother-in-law from England's 70th birthday party - that was great! So we've been very social this weekend, not leaving too much time for the blogging but it's been loads of fun! I also finally got my hair done for the first time in ages yesterday! It's pretty gorgeous, if I do say so myself! Thank God I've finally found a place that does great hair on this island!!! My first experience in a salon here was frightening and left my hair in patchy, spotty funny colors for a pretty hefty price tag. Not nice!!! This place was good and the stylists really know what they're doing - and it was much cheaper than the crappy place! Go figure!

Is anyone else excited about this?

My ever-so-attentive husband-to-be allerted me to this saying that he thought I would enjoy it! We are getting geared up to watch it tonight at 8pm on the STYLE channel! It's about 3 interns at Marie Claire. I always LOVE these shows! Can't wait to see how it goes - and Nina Garcia is involved... she hasn't always been my favorite, but she's growing on me.

Can't forget Big Love tonight - last week's episode was so good! CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Hope y'all have had great weekends too!

The City and My Jewelry Box

In my book, this has been a fabulous evening! M & I went to the gym right after work - today was light cardio for 20 minutes and weights for about 45 minutes - I need to tone my arms, chest and back! I read that Kate Hudson does something like this... she'll do hard cardio for a long time one day, yoga the next, a different lighter cardio with weights the next. Supposedly, switching it up during the week targets more areas for all over results. Right now I seem to have plateaued, so I'm trying anything - only 4 months and one week till the wedding and I've got a lot of weight to lose... sheesh!
Anyway, after the gym and a shower I made dinner and then I came to my room. I've been watching all the episodes of The City that I've missed - pretty much all of them. It's great! I love that if I'm too busy to watch it on regular tv that I can still catch it online - technology is amazing! So I watched while cleaning out my jewelry box - man did it need some help! All my necklaces were tangled, earrings all over the place. I'd gotten to a place where I wasn't using a lot of my pieces because they were in such a hot mess of a disasterous jewelry box! But that's one tick off my list now and I found things I forgot I had!!! I also managed to throw out several sea shell necklaces from past family vacations (um, seriously, what was I thinking? OH RIGHT! That was my Blue Crush phase - EW!) among other things that were broken, out of style or just plain horrible! PROGRESS!!!
I'm on a mission to get organized so I might not be around as much - honestly, I've been a bit edgy and low lately and I think a lot of it has to do with not taking time for myself and the fact that my environment is not homey. It's a mess too! So I'm gonna get this place in ship shape this weekend with a good ole spring cleaning!!! It just seems like there's always a hurricane or a quarterly pest control guy and everything gets shoved on the top shelves and then we never get organized again - well... the time has come! Will post pictures of progress maybe soon!!!
What are your weekend plans?!?!

Tonight's Entertainment

I'm excited for tv tonight!!! I don't have a lot of regular shows that I watch, but I absolutely love BIG LOVE and it's season premiere is tonight!!! Can't wait!!!

Also very excited about the World Premier of The United States of Tara starring Toni Collette and written by Diablo Cody (who won an Oscar for writing Juno) - I think this show will be amazing and I'm so excited to see it!!!

I hope you're all having a great weekend!!!

Pink Julep Loves...

First off, I should explain my recent blog absense... it has everything to do with this:

I loved Greek Season 1 when I lived in New York and then when we moved here we found that we don't get ABC Family channel here, so I missed out. I recently bought seasons 1 and 2 and have been watching them like crazy! Haven't finished Season 2 quite yet, but really enjoying it!

I've also been using my Clairsonic Mia lately and I must say, this is a fabulous tool that everyone should have in their beauty arsenal! My skin feels as soft as a baby's behind after using it, make-up goes on smoother and the breakouts have ceased, no matter how much chocolate I've consumed! This little beauty is AMAZING!!! If you don't have one yet, get yourself to Sephora and for goodness sake, do your skin a favor and buy one!
Hope you all had a great weekend!

They Got Bank!

I am currently loving the total freak show that is Bank of Hollywood! If you haven't seen this hot mess yet, it's a must see! The panel is good and some of the loonies that make it onto the show are a riot! Good quality family fun!!!

I'm So Excited, I'm So Excited I'm So...

Okay, can I just say... I love Chelsea Handler and I'm completely addicted to Chelsea Lately on E! She is so funny and catty and I nearly lost it a few nights ago when she went off on Kimora Lee Simmons's line on her neck! HAHAHAHA This beotch is wicked funny - I have a very similar sense of humor and often when I say things, people don't know I'm joking - I'm pretty sure that probably happens to her too! Catty crazy gal!

Tonight on her show she had Elizabeth Berkley, originally of Saved by the Bell fame and later, the Oscar worthy Showgirls (totally sarcastic!)... And by the way, don't even try to act like you never watched SBTB cause you know you did and you also know that when the reruns come on TBS it's like a bad car wreck and you can't help but look - it's addictive and pretty much everyone still watches it sometimes even though it's absolute Crap!

Anyway, Chelsea gave her the Saved by the Bell quiz and she actually revived her most famous line - from the episode where Zack puts the girls in a group called Hot Sunday to perform at The Max for agents and Jessie gets addicted to caffeine pills and oversleeps and when Zack comes to pick her up for the gig she delivers her famous line...

"I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so.... SCARED!" I had to include a pic:

And for those of you who may not remember - Screech fills in for Jessie with Hot Sunday, Slater steels flowers out of Zack's yard for her and they all live happily ever after... THE END.

But seriously, how cool is Chelsea Handler for bringin it all back to us again - I think she's one of my new heroes! She even has a sidekick - Chuy Bravo, that cutie little nugget!

Why oh why???

Not really sure why I love the Girls Next Door, but I totally do - it's such great Mental Chewing Gum! Sooooo ridiculous! It's like a car accident - I just can't stop staring, no matter how bad it is! Still awake at nearly 1am to watch it ... why oh why?

Pink Julep on the Couch: Keeping up with the Kardasians

Is it sad that I'm really looking forward to seeing the premier of Keeping up with the Kardashians tonight? I think these people are probably really normal in a way, but edited for television to look like ratings achieving hot messes and I Love It!!!

The promo shot of them with Kourtney full on popped out pregnant in a nightie, while very brave of her (and she does look gorgeous) is TOTALLY cracking me up!!! How do you get to a point where you'll sign yourself up for that? If I ever end up preggers, no one should expect to photograph me in anything short of a giant snuggy and a pair of Uggs!

Tonight on E! at 10 EST.

xoxo,
Pink Julep!
