60's Style

I love everything about 1960's style and fashion! I love it ALL!!! Bouffants, Chignons, eyeliner, white gloves, pill box hats, classic Chanel suits... the list goes on and on! So I wanted to do a post dedicated to my favorite Style Decade!

Times were difficult then with the cold war and the Vietnam War... but they were certainly much simpler times. And it was a time when ladies looked like ladies and there was certainly an effort put into poofing hair, perfecting the cateye and looking your best at all times!

I'm constantly on the lookout for things to incorporate into my wardrobe to make my signature style a little more 60's. I just love that classic and timeless, yet dramatic look and its one of the looks that I actually pull off quite well. Here are some photos of the stylish 1960's!

Travel fashions - so chic and fun!

Stewardesses were stunning! It was part of their job to be beautiful and keep tabs on their looks and weight. It was not acceptable to let yourself go as you were the face of the airline. This was a time when people dressed up to fly - a time when travelling was more glamorous for sure.

When was the last time you saw a flight attendant in a pink and red dress with a fabulous pill box hat?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Brigitte Bardot - How sexy is she in these fabulous polka dot pedal pushers? And she makes a braid so sexy!

Her hair and make-up was AMAZING! She is one of my inspirations for my wedding look! She makes wearing a towel look so glam!

The beautiful Mod Femme from Jean Luc Goddard's classic film, La Chinois. That hat is great and the bangs and eyeliner look are so chic!

Of course there's no one like Jackie - No one else could ever make helmut hair look so good!

Pink Julep

Pink Julep at the Movies and My 1st OOTD!

Hubby and I have seen a lot of movies in the last week!


First up was Did You Hear About the Morgans? Don't believe the bad press you've read and heard about this ROM-COM cause it's cute, touching and a lot of fun! Surprisingly SJP and Hugh Grant have a very fun chemistry! It's cute! Go see it or at least rent it!

The Blind Side is everything I heard it was and MORE! This is a phenominal story of selflessness and believing in people! I'm totally rooting for Sandra Bullock to win some awards for her amazing performance! And, FYI... this film made me totally homesick for the South!

Hubby dragged me out to see Avatar tonight and I was reluctant, but it was actually pretty good. Too long, but good. The special effects are good and the story is okay, even if they did probably kill an entire rainforest with all the electricity they used on making a film that screams PLANET IN PERIL! Also, kind of annoyed me how they ripped off the American Indians for the aliens... make up your own story James Cameron! But otherwise, it was great!

Also, I was proud enough of my outfit today to do my first OOTD (excuse the mess in the background please - No, I don't make my bed before work... who has the time?)

I wanted to share this one in particular because it's one of my favorite outfits and probably one of the cheapest! You really don't have to spend a fortune to look like a million bucks! Not sayin I do look like a million bucks, but I really do like this outfit! Just do...

Not too shabby for all those pieces on that slim budget! Some pieces are new and others are old. I'm a big fan of shopping my own closet to make new outfits with both the old and the new! I wore this to work today and felt very put together and cute all day. I'm such a bargain whore and think that I'll continue to share some of my good steals with you when I'm up to the photo shoot at 7am!
