Seeing Double - Part II

Back in July I posted about my annoyance with Modcloth - even though admittedly I shop their site and purchase occasionally. In a nut shell, I often see things on ModCloth for sale that I have seen on some of my other fave online apparel sites - identical items - but ModCloth always has their 'version' marked up at least $20 more than the other site.

So even when I do shop at ModCloth I'm always wondering if I'm secretly being ripped off because they are marking the prices up so high.

Today I found yet another example - identical booties on ModCloth's site and on GoJane.com - but ModCloth's version is...yup...$20 more.

Even though it's still in the 90's here in Charleston - I'm starting to eye the newest trends for Fall shoes... like these boots from Anthropologie that I've been loving for some time now... {drool}...

But I just can't fork out the money for these boots...so unfair they are so expensive. :*(

But I want to share a retail site with you I've been shopping for some time - GoJane.com. I love their shoes - they are super affordable and decent quality for the price. And each style comes in a variety of colors!

Here are some styles I've been eying. I originally balked at the whole bootie trend because I'm so short - but I've changed my mind and I'm really digging them now. I think some of these would be so cute with skirts and opaque tights.

Christy's Closet - Shoes

I have a problem - it's called online shopping, and I do a lot of it. I'm working on curtailing this vice of mine and with overflowing closets, I recently did a massive purge...

I took a huge bin of my gently worn clothes to Uptown Cheapskates - and they took more than half of it and paid me only $76. I can't be too upset with that though because I went in there knowing it would be that bad...but...I still made a little bit of cash, the clothes are off my hands, and the clothes they didn't take went to Goodwill.

I did, however, keep the nice items that I've either only worn once, or never worn at all - i.e. tags still attached (like I said... I have a problem....another post, another time) - to try and sell myself.

I've seen other bloggers sell their items on their blogs and thought I'd give it a try - seriously this stuff is brand new, take advantage of my online shopping habit.

I'm going to do a flat shipping rate of $5 for all items. If you live in Charleston, we can meet up if it's easier and I can just hand them to you if you want to save $5. Just email me and let me know... :)

Friday Night Out - Shoe Dilemma

Tonight a few of my fellow Clemson MBA alums are coming in town for a mini-reunion. I'm the only girl, lol. Anyways... we're doing dinner downtown, followed by a night out on the town visiting bars and who knows what else.

So I've pretty much got my outfit planned - I'm wearing this fun ruffled one-shoulder top from GoJane.com that I adore with this fun and flirty skirt from Forever21. Excuse the skirt appearance in the picture - I had to steal it off of a picture from What I Wore's Jessica since the skirt is no longer on Forever21's site. The picture really doesn't do it justice - it has more purple hues in it and the colors really pop!

And I'm pretty sure I'll be carrying my New York & Co metallic silver ruffled purse.
So onto my dilemma - shoes. What shoes should I wear? The shoes in the photo on the left are very close in resemblance to a pair I have from Forever21. The other shoes on the right are from Old Navy. I think I like the Old Navy pair the best since it makes the outfit more summery -- but these shoes start to hurt my feet if I wear them for long periods of time... and I have a feeling we'll be out late tonight.

But should I wear them anyways...maybe pack flops in my purse to put on just in case?

Or should I dress it up with the beige pumps?

Or........do you have a suggestion for something completely different?

I picked these Miu Miu patent bow flats up in Harrod's last week on sale... I literally die everytime I put them on. Both from the pain and from the beauty!

Rain, rain, go away...

Those of you who live in Boston know that we're currently experiencing the rainy season in lieu of spring. I personally HATE this weather and I'll tell you why:

1.) I don't own water appropriate footwear. No wellies (hi, fat calves), no duck boots, nothing.

2.) It's bloody cold out! I could handle the rain better if I wasn't having to wear 4 sweaters underneath my jacket to stay warm.

3.) I don't own water appropriate outerwear. For some reason, never in my life have I ever owned a "raincoat." No idea why except that my mother has never owned appropriate outerwear ever and thus, I've seemingly inherited her genes. When in doubt, blame mother. ("NO WIRE HANGA'S!")

(*Actually I lie, PB and I bought me a packable rain "kagool" as PB calls it last summer at Cork Castle. However, it resides in England and until I'm there, it totally does not count.*)

Since I am moving to the land of rain and fog (incidentally, did you know that it actually rains more in continental Europe than in England? Mmhmm.) I figure I perhaps should invest in some serious water-wear. However, I'm broke (see generally: LAW SCHOOL DEBT) so where do I turn? L.L. Bean, obviously!

I realize $69 is a little pricey for rubber boots, but everyone I know raves about these and says they last forever. Methinks I would need them in pink/navy. (Surprise, surprise)

PS- Waaayyy cheaper than Tory Burch's knockoffs and JUST as cute... I would ever argue cuter.

Obviously I'd pick the pink. At $69 it's relatively affordable for almost any budget.

Waterlogged

Since Boston is currently in the midst of monsoon season, I thought it was only fitting that I procure the ONE necessary item to make it through to summer.

WELLIES!

I desperately need a pair. I LOVE the Hunter ones but my calves have always been too big for them (thank you 20 years of ballet.) I came across these when I was doing a search for Men's which I thought might be wider- Adjustable calf tall Hunter Wellies! I MUST have them. This website only delivers to the UK. Good thing I have a good-lookin' guy in England who could accept them for me!

I've got a fever...and the only prescription is more Nautical..

So, I've always been a big fan of nautical fashion... how could I not be living in Charleston?

But lately, nautical is really becoming a growing trend on a lot of my fave shopping websites -- and I.can't.stop.buying...

Some of my recent purchases - all very reasonably priced and bargain finds, mind you... Loving anything navy striped or 'anchored' these days...

And then of course...to make matters worse, RueLaLa had a sale today from Sperry Top Sider, and I just couldn't pass up these adorable wedges...they are just too cute! And oh, so very nautical...sigh.

I may have a 'nautical' problem... :-/

Weight Watchers Recap

This week was ok with Weight Watchers. I was down almost a pound. I had a chat with my leader after the meeting to try to ascertain what is going on with my weight loss. She pointed out that in 3 weeks I've had an average of 1/2 pound a week weight loss. Unfortunately since I have already lost a lot of weight, things slow down and they (WW gods) say that to have healthy, sustainable weight loss you should aim for no more than 1/2 to 1 pound of weight loss per week. Apparently I'm on the right path... Even though it is a slow, highly annoying path.

My goals this week: Track daily and try to get in every one of my "good health guidelines."

I've been doing well getting in my whole grains, water and milk but I've been slacking a little in the veggie dept. I stocked up on prepackaged veggies yesterday so I can grab and go (and some Sabra jalepeno hummus, which makes any veggie edible.)

Now, onto other, more materialistic things... I've been pining for this dress. PB likes it and I've gotten the go-ahead to break my new years resolution and purchase.

But, before I do, let's have a poll- Yay or Nay?

And finally, check out my steal of the week. PB and I are going on a cruise in March and I was perusing the shoe dept at Target last night and came across these beauties. They were a budget friendly $15! Perhaps I'll need them in pink too. (And they would go with the aforementioned dress, should I purchase and take on the cruise, no?)
